The Clown of Tears

A girl whose tears were stolen by a vengeful clown has to follow the world's circuses to track him down in hopes of bringing them back.

where does the clown keep the tears? what does he do with the tears? is this some kind of hobby of his and if so, how and when did it start?

He keeps them in a secret locket worn at his heart. At night, when he is alone, he takes them out and counts them, turning each tear over to look at every angle of it. He trembles, because he can not cry himself.

He hides the tears in a plastic cake he carries from state to state--opens it in public bathrooms--lets a little pour out over his head. It makes his heart beat a little faster if it gets under his skin. AND SUDDENLY...he's a leather-jacket-motorcycle-cool-guy with a penchant for whiskey and no front teeth. He imagines other uses for the tears, all of them more sick than this. The girl, who doesn't really care about her tears, has always wanted to kill a clown. Seeing her chance she squeezes herself into a vigorous beam of light and hides inside his trailer's florescent bulb. In the dim light, post-show, he watches a rerun of Rosanne and drinks. The girl finds this all just too sad. Plus, she's trapped in the light. Thus the clown keeps the tears and the little girl becomes his Jesus--the little light that follows him wherever he goes. She can't talk to him...but sometimes, the room becomes just a little brighter...as the circus caravan nears home.

He runs out of tears and dies from withdrawal.

The girl is alone.

Little children are the bright light in our lives. Let's not allow them to get mixed up with vengeful clowns.

The clown keeps the tears in a thin silver vial and secretly, he has added a tear of his own. On the next full moon he will water his pear tree with the infusion. The gold pears of the tree will give unusual powers to anyone who tastes them.

Inde, that is actually quite touching. The anotomy of a tear, or expressed sentiment for that matter.

Groucho, so tears let him live the life, I see. A tragic ending for both - a lesson of revenge.

Princess Haiku, so his use of tears is actually quite altruistic - a necessary ingredient to enrich humankind.
